How To Choose A Snowshoe Binding
We get a lot of questions from customers about what binding they should buy. With the different styles available, making a choice can seem quite daunting. Our best selling bindings are the Rubber Binding and the 3R Ratchet Binding.
Traditional Leather Bindings
These leather bindings are what we all remember as kids back in the day. They are a great binding with that total traditional look that some purists love. Being made from leather these bindings will stretch when they get wet in the warmer spring days. They also require some maintenance to keep them from cracking and getting brittle. You should apply a good leather conditioner to these before or after each season.
Rubber Bindings
These rubber bindings are a fantastic binding requiring no maintenance and have no mechanical or moving parts. The choice of trappers and ice fishermen, these bindings make taking your snowshoes on and off fast and easy. one of our best sellers.
Double Use and Sandal Style Bindings
These bindings are good for recreational or the occasional snowshoe outing. These do not lock the foot into the snowshoe like the 3R or the Asymmetrical Binding.
3R Ratchet Binding
The 3R ratchet Binding is our best seller and these bindings perform. They "lock" your foot onto the snowshoe making them feel like they are an extension of your foot. With no side to side flopping around of your snowshoes these bindings give you greater control when moving through dense bush and deep snow. Quick release double ratchet straps are very easy to use. The aluminum crampons give superior traction for hill climbing and help limit sliding on the down hill.
Asymmetrical Binding
These Asymmetrical Bindings perform as well as our 3R Bindings. They will fit a larger boot such as a work boot with the steel toes. These also lock your foot into position giving you greater control when moving through dense bush and deep snow. The quick release double ratchets are easy to use and the crampons give superior traction for hill climbing and help limit sliding on the down hill.
